At CES 2024 in Las Vegas, TCL has decided to do things really bigannouncing its new TV from 115 inches. A confirmation of the brand’s strategy, which already last year had brought 98-inch televisions to the market at truly competitive prices. And although the announcement was for the American market, the Senior Go To Market Manager of TCL Italy Nicola Micali confirmed that to us The 115-inch TV will also make its debut in Europe and Italy. A market that seems to increasingly appreciate large televisions.
TCL thinks big and focuses on 115-inch TVs (also in Italy)
Officially it is called 115QM891G, at least for the United States: in our country it will probably have a different name. But what matters, in this case, is not the name but the dimensions: 115 inches. A diagonal that is more than double compared to more normal 55-inch TVs, for a display that is quadruple the size. With the stand on which he is mounted, he is taller than most of the fair’s patrons.
But TCL’s 115-inch TV isn’t just big: it is very bright, so much so that the colors shine even under the bright lights of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Even the best professional projector couldn’t compete in such a bright room. And most projectors offer, at most, five extra inches.
The fair environment is not ideal for objective evaluations, but the contrast also seemed good to us, thanks to the QD Mini LED technology with its 20,000 dimming zones managed by the processor TCL AIRQ Ultra. However, we cannot express ourselves on 6.2.2 channel audiowhich we have not heard, although we can see that TCL has positioned the speakers to envelop the room with sound, as much as it does with the light of the images.
When size makes the difference
In our chat exploring TCL’s exposure, Nicola Micali explained to us that TCL has every intention of bring this 115 inch TV to Italy too. Details are missing: we can’t tell you when it will debut or how much it will cost (although our American colleagues at CNET managed to get a price “under 20 thousand dollars” for the USA). But we know that it will also arrive on the Italian market, where TCL is doing excellent numbers with large televisions.

We’re not just talking about TVs over 65 inches, which now make up “around 5% of the over three million TVs sold” by TCL, according to Micali. But also models with 98-inch diagonals that the company has recently launched in Italy. In our country, in recent months, “over 500 98-inch TVs have been sold, most of them by TCL”. We are certainly not talking about record figures, when compared to sales of other sized TVs. But enough to make TCL focus on this segment of the market: not only to demonstrate that they know how to build great TVs, but with the belief that they can sell them.
Do things big
“Until a few years ago, it was thought that large TVs didn’t sell because customers didn’t have space at home. With the success of our 98 inch TVs, we showed that the main issue was value for money” explains Micali. Which confirms that also in 2024 TCL will launch other products with 98-inch diagonals. Always with the same strategy: that of providing customers with choice. With different technologies – and therefore different price ranges.
This doesn’t mean the company won’t continue to provide other sized TVs. “Before I said that we sell TVs from 43 to 98 inches, now I’ll have to get used to the fact that we cover up to 115 inches” jokes Micali. Which confirms what we will see on the Italian market televisions of all sizes and with different technologies. TCL is also maturing rapidly in Europe, after having conquered the American market with its own value for money that is difficult to beat, in all diagonals. In short, not only the size of TVs is growing, but also TCL’s ambitions.
