Our visit to Braun’s Kronberg factory
On the occasion of the arrival of the Braun Skin i-expert, we were invited by the company to the Braun factory in Kronberg to preview all the new features of the product and the studies and technology behind its development. To our great pleasure we were also able to visit the Braun factory with the adjoining museum dedicated to the company’s historical products. Obviously not only razors, but also household appliances, cameras and video cameras until the beginning of the history of the Company which today is more than 100 years old in which research and development were the basis of growth.
Among innovations, iconic products and even razors used by the astronauts of the Apollo mission (5 Braun Intecontinental razors), the company today reaches a new record with the Braun Skin i-expert, the arrival of machine learning and AI in its devices.
techgameworld.com’ interview with Anette Friedrich
For the occasion we had the opportunity to speak with Anette Friedrich, R&D Female Beauty in Brown, who told us about the development of the product, which began 5 years ago, overcoming the difficult period of the pandemic and the technology within it. The most interesting part is definitely the smart side of the device which translates both into the support of the application on Smartphone, the most advanced ever, and into the ability of the device to constantly analyze the user’s skin and automatically adjust the intensity of the pulsed light also depending on the area of the body on which you are using it.
In fact, Friedirch herself told us: “The team to create this device was built from scratch using different expertise within the company and bringing them together to focus on this project. We really try to use new, cutting-edge ways to learn about our consumers while prototyping, and that includes using technologies that have never been used before in this space. Among these we used motion tracking, coming into play to learn the exact movements that each of us makes to reach the different parts of the body.”
Motion Tracking and device machine learning have entered the field, which learns based on our use, we couldn’t help but ask, in this period of great turmoil, what the role of Artificial Intelligence was in the Braun Skin i-expert.
“When it comes to AI,” Friedirch said, “we’re at a starting point and it starts with the launch of the Braun Skin i-expert. We are developing treatment and progress tracking plans that change throughout the hair removal process. it is a machine learning module that works in the backend. We will test the results with consumers and our data analysts to develop increasingly efficient software that can scale to each individual customer.”
