After the incredible success of the film The Super Mario Bros. Movie – which grossed $1.3 billion in 2023 – Nintendo and the animation studio Illumination have announced a new film dedicated to the most famous plumber in the world.
What we know about the new Super Mario movie
The film will feature the collaboration of leading figures from the film and video game industries. The WCCFTech portal reports that Chris Meledandrifounder and CEO of Illumination, and Shigeru Miyamotorepresentative director of Nintendo, will join forces in the realization of this project.
We will find the director Aaron Horvath e Michael Jelenicwith the screenplay entrusted to Matthew Fogel. Little – or rather nothing – is known about the plot and the possible voice cast.
The expected release date of the new film is April 3, 2026, but it is not clear whether it will arrive in Italy on the same day. Those who want to pass the time can wait until May 23rd this year, when Nintendo will release the remake version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Portal per Nintendo Switch.
In the meantime, just a few days ago – March 10th – MAR10 Day was celebrated. On the occasion of the day in homage to the iconic Italian plumber, LEGO presented new exclusive sets.
