The president of the council Giorgia Meloniin a Roman event dedicated to the future ofartificial intelligence (AI) in Italy, announced the implementation of an “Italian way toartificial intelligence“ — which involves an investment from one billion euros in technology.
Meloni: Italy will invest one billion euros in AI
As Repubblica explains, Meloni’s words arrive during the conference “Theartificial intelligence for Italy”. The Prime Minister spoke of the importance of starting from the “great national champions”. She revealed new investments on theIAthanking Cdp e Cdp Venture Capital for the commitment to allocate one billion euros toIA. This funding will be split between the creation of a new investment fundinvestment specialized and the use of already active funds with a focus onIA.
The Undersecretary of State, Alessio Buttiprovided further details, indicating that thecompetent authority for theIAaccording to the EU regulation, will be an agency with functions of support, vigilance e sanctions. Furthermore, he explained that the government will present a bill on theIA in the next 15 days, preferring a parliamentary approach rather than a decree law. In the bill, will be included the Bottom of about 800 million euros, already started with Acn and Cdp, in addition to one billion from the industrial plan of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti venture capital.
The Undersecretary underlined the need to involve the world of researchthe universitythe PMI not startup innovative. We therefore need to develop a industrial policy consistent within theIA — something that, according to the Government, was missing until today.
