Apparently in the course of 2023 Apple will release a 15-inch version of MacBook Air, slightly larger than the one currently on the market (13-inch). The indiscretion comes directly from Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman.
Currently Gurman has not disclosed further details on the new MacBook Air model. However another insighter called Ross Young had previously revealed that Apple’s suppliers had started production of 15.5 inch display. These, according to Young, would make up the new MacBook Air. Young also suggested that it could be put on the market as early as spring 2023.
What we know about the new 15-inch MacBook Airs arriving in 2023
Given that the MacBook Air has just been redesigned, the new 15-inch model is likely to have a very similar design (or even identical) to the latest 13-inch model. Furthermore, it is very likely that it will be possible to choose between the versions with M2 and M2 Pro chips.
If the 15-inch model seems to be almost a reality, bad news for those waiting for a smaller version. After being an interesting hypothesis for a few months, insighters agree that the 12-inch MacBook is no longer in Apple’s plansor at least not in the short-term ones.
In the past Apple had released 12-inch notebooks, both low-end and mid-range. In the cheapest range, for example, a Ultrathin 12-inch MacBook that only weighed just 900 grams. Production was then discontinued in 2019. As for the high-end, however, we have to take a leap to the beginning of the millennium. In the early 2000s, Apple released the first 12-inch G4 PowerBook.
