Apple today unveiled the first beta versions of the iOS 15.5 e iPadOS 15.5 to developers, about three weeks after the launch of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4. As far as we know, the update doesn’t introduce who knows what innovative features, yet it greatly improves the user experience. So let’s see what are the news that we should expect.
iOS 15.5 Beta: all the news of the update
References to Apple Classical
The iOS 15.5 beta features a number of references to Apple Classical, the standalone App under development that Apple is planning to integrate with Apple Music. The code of the Music App shows the indications “Open in Apple Classical” and “Open this in the new App designed for classical music“, but in fact the application is not available. Not surprisingly, Apple acquired the Primephonic classical music streaming service in August 2021, and even then said it would build a new classical music experience for “Apple Music”. Now, it seems, that project would seem to be coming true.
Apple Pay Cash
In the section Apple Pay Cash of the App Wallet, the iOS 15.5 beta adds “Request” and “Send” buttons to simplify cash management directly from Wallet.
Universal Control
According to Apple’s macOS release notes, the Universal Control feature of iPadOS 15.5 and macOS Monterey 12.4 updates is not compatible with machines running macOS 12.3 or iPadOS 15.4. Therefore, Apple itself suggests updating the devices to the beta version.
SportsKit Updates
Apple is continuing to develop its “SportsKit” support as it prepares for the Friday Night Baseball launch.
Rebranding on iTunes Pass
Apparently, Apple is working to rename “iTunes Pass” in the Wallet, renaming it “Apple Balance“. As anticipated by 9to5Mac, “the balance of the Apple Balance account can be used to purchase products, accessories, apps, games and more online or in store with Apple Pay”.
