Amazon and Italian SMEs: export goal of 4 billion euros by 2025

Amazon wants to act as a driving force for the export of Italian SMEs in the world, and sets ambitious goals. The initiatives announced in collaboration with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (MIMIT)il Ministry of Agricultureof Sovereignty Food and Forestry (MASAF) and theICE Agency, they want to promote and protect the Made in Italy brand in the world. And support Italian SMEs in achieving 4 billion euros in foreign sales by 2025.

The announcement comes during an event at MIMIT, in the presence of ministers Adolfo Urso and Francesco Lollobrigidaof the Director General of the MAECI Mauro Battocchi, of the President of the ICE Agency Matteo Zoppas and the VP and Country Manager of Amazon Italy and Spain Mariangela Marseille.

Among the initiatives presented, the third edition of the Made in Italy Days. Will be held from 27 May to 2 June 2024, with a special promotional window dedicated to Made in Italy products on Amazon. It will arrive in several countries, including United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, United States, Spain and Italy.

Furthermore, MAECI, MIMIT, MASAF and Amazon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote and protect the authenticity of Made in Italy products. For example, combating counterfeiting to the detriment of Italian companies and consumers. The Protocol provides for awareness-raising, training and support initiatives for Italian SMEs for internationalization through e-commerce.

Amazon has also renewed its commitment to supporting the exports of Italian companies that sell on its online store. It announced that it has already exceeded its initial target of 1.2 billion euros in foreign sales by 2025, reaching over 3 billion euros. The company has now set a new goal: supporting Italian companies in achieving 4 billion euros in foreign sales by 2025.

On the occasion of the first National Made in Italy Day, Amazon made available a category dedicated to Italian design within the Made in Italy showcase and presented an installation during the FuoriSalone 2024. Furthermore, the company offers a free online training event for Italian entrepreneurs, “Virtual Academy Accelerate with Amazon, How to Sell on Amazon and Showcase Made in Italy”, which will be held on April 23, 2024.
