In light of what is happening in Ukraine, American Express stated of having suspended all services in both Russia and Belarus. The company intends to support colleagues and customers in the attacked region and provide humanitarian aid to those suffering from the effects of this terrible war. American Express also stops services in Russia and Belarus
After Visa e Mastercard it was now a matter of days before American Express made its move. In a post published over the weekend, the company announces the suspension of all operations in Russia. Consequently, American Express cards issued globally they will no longer work at merchants or ATMs in Russia. In addition, the cards issued locally in Russia by Russian banks they won’t work anymore outside the country on the American Express global network.
The company reveals that it has suspended all commercial operations also in Belarus. This adds to the previous steps they have taken, which include severing their relations with banks in Russia affected by US and international government sanctions.
