Paradox Interactive has announced a new initiative that will allow independent developers to create games using the intellectual property (IP) of Vampire: The Masquerade. The initiative, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz, is called Unbound, and provides for the best games to be published on the indie games website Itch.io, thus guaranteeing a revenue for the creators who will keep up to 67% of the proceeds.

Developers, as reported by the site, will enjoy “additional marketing support”. However “in Unbound, you are responsible for the game you wish to create and its content, and you will have to adhere to our license agreement and Itch.io rules”. It is also specified that “all assets in your game that do not use WoD Unbound elements are yours and you are free to distribute them”. This is not a secondary aspect, as it would include important content such as artbooks, soundtracks and more.
On the official website of the initiative, at the moment, there are already a series of Unbound games, with rather varied projects. There are first person games, horror titles, point and click adventures, and even digital card games. In short, the only limit is really the creativity of the developers.
