Aperit-Hero: the unpublished story of Kratos

All self-respecting video game lovers know the God Of War saga, but do you know that the story is not only told in the video game saga? In this episode of Aperit-Hero we will talk about the unpublished story of Kratos in the comic series!

Welcome, friends of our dear and tormented heroes! If you're a fan of comics, chances are you're also a god video game fan. If you find yourself in the category, know that today's episode will be very particular. In fact, if up to now we have talked about comic book superheroes, with the last episode dedicated to Green Arrow, this time we will talk about a character who was not born in comics, but in video games. The protagonist of today's Aperit-Hero is in fact Kratosthe protagonist of the video game saga God Of War. Believe it or not, in fact, there is also one God Of War comic series. The story takes place exactly after the events of God Of War 3 told by Santa Monica Studio. Just think that it is the same development house that released this unpublished story!

I recycle Aperit-Hero: the unpublished story of Kratos

In the finale of God Of War 3 we saw Kratos completing his circle of revenge unleashing the power of Pandora rather than leave it to Athena. This act required his sacrifice, prompting him to stab himself with the sword of Olympus. If you stayed until the end, you will have noticed that in the scene after the credits, Kratos' apparently lifeless body is disappeared, leaving a trail of blood behind, as well as a destroyed Olympus. Well, the comics story dedicated to the Ghost of Sparta begins right here, with Kratos escaping from Greece. What he did he actually led to the total destruction of Olympusthus letting Greek civilization die with it as well.

The arrival in Egypt | Aperit-Hero: the unpublished story of Kratos

After this event, Kratos finds himself wandering the world alone, always with his friends ghosts of the past that torment his mind. To completely free herself from her past and forget what happened, she decides to throw away the Chaos Lick. These, however, always come back to him every time he tries to get rid of them. The God of War, therefore, has nothing left to do but accept the fact that that curse will follow him forever. Continuing to sail the ships, he finds himself shipwrecked in a desert, which turns out to beEgypt. In this land many people recognize him and run away scared from him. Everyone runs away, except an old man with a stick, who warns him of a prophecy that is coming and what awaits him down the road.

Amon-Ra? | Aperit-Hero: the unpublished story of Kratos

It is not really clear who this strange elderly figure is, but what is certain is that it's someone big. There are many theories about it, but the main ones and also the most agreed upon about the identity of this mysterious man is that he is Amon-Ra, or the king of the Egyptian Gods. Amon-Ra is a figure who often finds himself at the center of everything, the one who is aware of everything and everyone, which is why he seems to follow the figure of the Ghost of Sparta so insistently, almost as if he were obsessed with it. Kratos ignores the words of the mysterious elder, but the further he goes into the desert, the more he is continuously followed by gods creatures that remember the elderly. He often comes across various animals that bear his facial features, such as a monkey, a monkey that keeps warning him of what is coming.

Slayer of the Gods | Aperit-Hero: the unpublished story of Kratos

During his journey to Egypt, among all the inhabitants who recognized the Ghost of Sparta, suddenly people stopped running from him. The reason is very simple, they are running from something much bigger. In fact, an enormous mythological creature with a reptilian shape arrives, with a crocodile head and a humanoid body. The depiction of this figure would make one think that Kratos is fighting against Torn, although this God actually symbolizes protection. It would therefore be strange if they decided to scare the inhabitants of Egypt so gratuitously, but as we have seen in the video games, they do not always respect the transposition of the Gods in the saga. Maybe Sobek sensed Kratos' presence and deemed him a threat. The fact remains that combat is very difficult, almost fatal for Kratos. In fact, the Spartan will have to resort to once again Chaos Lick to defeat him.

A new beginning

After the fight against “Sobek”, Kratos simply leaves the lands of Egypt and continues forward on his solitary journey, but his actions will not be forgotten. Continuing to wander, he finally arrives at the Northern landswhere he meets Faye. He initially has a fight with the woman, as explained in God Of War Ragnarok, but somehow the woman sees the good in him and puts an end to the fight. Kratos' wife is not shown in the comic series, unfortunately. The final story focuses on Kratos' training in anger control.

Which he initially has difficulty with, he gets frustrated when he fights a bear, but he always tries to stay calm. Calm but loses the moment he and his son find themselves clashing against a pack of berserker, men capable of turning into bears. In the moment of the fight Kratos loses control, but tries to regain calm for his son. One thing he has learned from his past is indeed to keep calm, concentrate and don't let anger control you. In fact, he himself must control his anger, to exploit it as a weapon.
