According to the Japanese blog Mac Otakara, Apple is planning to release a Fifth generation iPad Air with features similar to the sixth generation mini version, including an A15 Bionic chip, an Ultra Wide 12 megapixel front camera with Center Stage support, 5G for cellular models and Quad-LED True Tone flash.
Apple: fifth generation iPad Air on the way?
Citing reliable sources in China, the insider’s report says the new iPad Air could be announced alongside theiPhone SE third generation in spring 2022. The new iPad Air is expected to have the same design as the current model, including a single-lens rear camera.
Published in October 2020, the current iPad Air It features a 10.9-inch display with thin bezels, a Touch ID power button and a USB-C port, with color options including Space Gray, Silver, Green, Rose Gold, and Sky Blue.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the first event of the year dedicated to Apple products will probably take place in March or April as usual, therefore it is very likely that the new iPad Air and iPhone SE models, if they exist, will be announced at that juncture.
Mac Otakara reported, among other things, that the fifth-generation iPad Air would be equipped with one USB-C port and that the latest 12.9-inch iPad Pro would be 0.5mm thicker to accommodate a mini-LED display. On the other hand, it’s important to point out that the website already has a log of inaccurate rumors behind it, including the alleged (and missed) launch of the new AirPods Pro in April 2021.
