Apple would have assumed Andrea Schubert, Meta’s head of communication and public relations regarding the products in augmented reality (AR). This (unofficial) assumption marks Apple’s renewed interest in the Metaverse. And it indicates that the arrival of Apple’s AR headset is approaching.
Apple assumes Meta communications manager for AR
The news comes from Mark Bloomberg, Bloomberg’s authoritative signature especially when it comes to Apple. The analyst explains that the hiring of Andrea Schubert, who worked for six years in Meta (previously Facebook), represents an important step in the Apple’s strategy for the AR viewer which he wants to launch next year.
“Meta, with Oculus [il visore VR dell’azienda], is at the top of the viewer market. So this assumption makes sense for Apple as launch day approaches. ” A date that Apple wants to be prepared for, also considering the renewed attention to the world of mixed reality. Oculus Quest 2 di Meta was one of the most purchased items on Black Friday (especially in the United States). And the Oculus app reached the top of the most downloaded in the App Store and Google Play over the holiday weekend.
Part of this success is due to the way in which Meta was able to communicate it momentum towards the Metaverse during the last few months. Andrea Schubert could therefore become an important resource for Apple too, after having done so well in the former Facebook. And cement the attention to the world of augmented and virtual reality.
Apple’s AR headset is expected to arrive in 2022, with a two 8K screens, sensors for three-dimensional tracking of movements and processors as powerful as a Mac. But even with a price that could be around $ 3,000. A promising product but for which it may be difficult to find a market. But it looks like Apple is hiring the best to ring another success.
