New financial maneuver for Cupertino. Apple is in fact about to acquire the Swedish record label BIS Recordsgetting your hands on a huge catalog of classical music to implement in the Apple Music Classical library.
BIS Records is being merged into Apple
The label was born in Sweden in 1973. Founded by Robert von Bahrhas quickly become one of the most important labels for classical music, having the rights to numerous recordings of the genre.
The announcement of the acquisition was released today by Apple, confirmed on the label’s website with a long message signed by Robert von Bahr. Part of the statement reads:
“BIS will become part of Apple Music Classical and Platoon. As proud as I am of this achievement, I am even more proud that the entire BIS staff, myself included, was retained. We are all looking forward to a future filled with new music and golden sounding artists thanks to this new force in classical music.”
The songs from the BIS catalog will then be implemented in the Apple Music Classical library, the stand-alone app specifically dedicated to classical music. We already talked about it here.
