Apple prepares the end of support for Apple Watch Series 3. The smartwatch launched in September 2017 could enter phase “End of Life”During the third quarter of 2022, five years after its official debut. The news was reported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, always well informed about the Apple world.
End of support for Apple Watch Series 3?
Five years after the presentation, the Watch Series 3 could enter the “End of Life” phase with the end of support. Currently, the smartwatch is the most older model that supports watchOS 8. The limited computing power of its S3 chip could be behind Apple’s decision to discontinue support. The Watch Series 3, therefore, may not switch to watchOS 9. Confirmation comes directly from Ming-Chi Kuo which, as always, represents a very reliable source of Apple news. The official announcement to this effect could come in the coming months. In any case, Apple has several innovations in the pipeline for its range of smartwatches in the course of 2022.
Apple Watch Series 3 may go to end-of-life (EOL) in 3Q22 because the computing power can’t meet the requirements of the new watchOS.
