Apple develops the OLED display for the iPhone Fold
The news comes from the Korean site TheElec, which has sources in the Apple supply chain, especially when it comes to screens. According to what has been ascertained, Apple would be producing for the first tests a display without polarizer, which allows you to block part of the light emitted by a display. A technology that reduces the total brightness but allows you to see them clearly LCD images.
Samsung Display first removed the polarizing layer from the OLED cloths for make Galaxy Z Fold 3, the latest foldable smartphone produced by the company. By reducing the thickness of the display, in fact, it is easier to fold it without leaving obvious marks.
Apple may therefore be working to test a new display for use on a future foldable iPhone, which it could call itself iPhone Fold (although there is no official confirmation).
In the recent past, Apple has patented more than one technology that can be used on a possible future foldable smartphone. And the rumors want the Apple to be able to launch an iPhone Fold for 2025. Starting production of a foldable display with a two-year start seems in line with this possible deadline.
