Apple just updated Apple Care + pricing for Mac, also activating a new annual option. This means that from now on, when buying a Mac, you will be able to choose between a three-year or annual-only AppleCare + subscription, in order to opt for the most comfortable option for the customer. This new formula is currently being tested in the US, but should soon arrive overseas as well.
Apple: the annual subscription to AppleCare + arrives
This new AppleCare + purchase option could prove to be extremely useful for all those who intend to change their Mac device one year after its purchase. In fact, this is one of the few scenarios in which opting for the annual plan is an advantage, given that opting for three years remains cheaper.
If for example, an annual AppleCare + applied to a 16-inch MacBook Pro costs $ 140; the three-year plan costs 380, becoming profitable in the long run. Buyers who decide to renew the service annually, they will find themselves paying $ 40 more after three years, making the three-year plan the best choice for anyone interested in a long-term purchase.
In any case, this novelty must also be analyzed from another perspective. In fact, Apple has also added the possibility of extending an existing AppleCare + plan even beyond the standard three-year period, at which time it can be advantageous to opt for the annual plan. The AppleCare + extension can be done within 30 days of the original plan expiring.
AppleCare + offers insurance coverage that goes beyond Apple’s standard one-year warranty and up to 90 days of technical support. Included in the package are hardware repairs and up to two accidental damage incidents every 12 months, each subject to a service fee.
