Apple switches to USB-C: also for AirPods, MagSafe and more
The news comes from Apple’s analyst and expert Ming-Chi Kuowhich they had announced on Twitter last week Apple was considering a change. Kuo had explained in 2023 Apple would have abandoned the Lightning ports to switch to USB-C. Moreover, they allow you to transfer data and reload faster.
Yesterday, Kuo explained that the technological limitations would have prevented Apple from immediately presenting a Wireless iPhone without ports. Furthermore, the system MagSafe would still be too immature for a technological leap of this magnitude. For this USB-C seems like a natural step to improve performance without risking.
In the same tweet, Kuo then explained that accessories that currently have a Lightning port will also change standards. AirPods, Magic Keyboard (e Trackpad e Mouse) as well as the batteries MagSafe will have the USB-C socket. Kuo, however, remains more vague on the time horizon, limiting himself to saying “in the near future”.
A move to the USB-C standard will also allow Apple to comply with international standards, which Europe above all is asking more insistently. And it would not be a “leap into the void” for the Apple. Come on MacBook to almost all types of iPadCupertino engineers have already worked with USB-C for years.
This information is not yet official and Apple may change its mind by next year. But several rumors want Apple ready to change. USB-C is a shared standard from almost all Android devices and from many technological products.
