There are “tricks of the trade” for every, well, profession: here are the golden tips to start off on the right (mecha) foot in Armored Core VI
Piloting a mecha doesn’t have to be easy and, in pure FromSoftware style, Armored Core VI he certainly does not fail to remind you: for this very reason, therefore, we are here again for dispensing tips and sharing tricks with you. The game knows how to get its claws out, between interface, bullets, explosions and so on. In short, there are games that are decidedly more beginner-friendly than this, for sure. Just as it is sure that, following the right suggestions, you can take home a sparkling S-rating in a matter of minutes. If a certain mission or specific enemy is bothering you, you’ve come to the right place.
Motor Consciousness | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
Let’s start with the basics of Armored Core VI: the real cheats will come later, now it’s better to think about the basic tips. Such as the movement. You must become aware of the fact that yes, you will start off on… the right foot by getting used to movement on land, but sooner or later you will also have to get up in flight. Staying in the air for as long as possible will save your life, while staying on the ground for too long will leave you vulnerable. Explosions will hit you more easily, half your (spherical) range of movement will be limited by terrain, and dodging will become too challenging. The arena of Collaudo AC it’s made for that: get used to dodging in flight, you’ll thank us later.
Even at the risk of getting a stiff neck | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
If you are playing with controller, you should jump quickly to the settings screen. Indeed, one of the first things to do is increase camera movement speed. This will allow you to, well, rotate the camera faster. The default settings are great if your priority is to admire the view as you turn around. Since we have just talked about the need to dodge, it goes without saying that the suggestive views are quite in the background. The quicker you turn, the more time you have to react to enemy blows. And even so, it is not said that it is enough…
I’m not saying dodge, but at least parry! | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
In the first chapter of the game, you will be introduced to a component for the mecha: lo shield. It’s not there for show, in case you’re wondering. Deploying a shield, if you’ll excuse the phonetic repetitiveness, allows you to block most damage (both to health and to the stagger bar) and, again following the Hidetaka Miyazaki school of thought, gives its best in first moments in which the shield is active. In other words: parry “just in time” and you will take as little damage as possible. Learn how to use shields and you will avoid many quarrels from chapter 2 onwards.
One Interface, One Race | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
L’game interface it can be intimidating, at least initially, but it does a great job of giving immediate information, especially around the lens reticle. Just above the latter you will in fact see the health of the enemy accompanied by the ACS bar (the aforementioned meter of, ahem, staggering). At the bottom left and right you will see the status of the weapons, whether they are reloading, overloaded and so on. Take a look at the screenshot below and pay attention to what each element can mean: every parameter is indicated, even how ready to launch the missiles are.
Rhymes with that explosion-loving director | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
About halfway through the first chapter you will unlock theArena, a mode in which you face other CPU-controlled mechas in one-on-one battles. The prize for each battle won is the chip OST (Operating System Tuning), with which to buy universal upgrades which, as such, go beyond the composition you are playing with. The best, at least at the beginning of the game, is the Weapon Bay. With it, you can use arm weapons instead of shoulder weapons, allowing you to create much more versatile mechas. And in case it wasn’t obvious, having a Swiss Army knife in this game always comes in handy!
Melee and you’re never wrong | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
If you struggle to dispense enough damage early in the game, le melee weapons I’m your best option. Getting close puts you at risk, of course, but the game is definitely worth the candle. A few well-placed blows from your pulse blade can be enough to take down the first boss, and of course as you continue you will be able to unlock better weapons. Not to mention, then, that melee weapons do not use ammunition. Not only will you never run dry, but you will also avoid incurring war costs when it comes to scraping together the income at the end of the mission.
Goofy Enemies | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
We talked about staggering? Well, the damage you deal has that as a side effect as well. And if you have explosives at your disposal, so much the better! If you can’t beat the tetrapod on duty or a very powerful boss, focus on explosives such as grenade launchers and missiles to trip up opponents… and once you’ve succeeded, drop your ace up your sleeve. Enemies reduced to this state take much more damage, so you should keep the most effective weapons aside to hit them when they are most vulnerable. In short, learn to play dirty!
Surprise Killer | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
If the enemy hasn’t seen you yet, the interface will not fail to let you know that you can launch a surprise attack. Did you read above the importance of making enemies vulnerable? Well, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s more likely to accomplish this with an unexpected attack. Even better if you save the explosives for these occasions. Train yourself in stealth techniques (however stealthy a colossal mecha can be) and you’ll soon realize that you can destroy even the toughest tetrapods before they even touch a hair. Or a bolt… yes, come on, we understand each other.
Manually Load Weapons Between Battles | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
Okay, for once we skipped the snide joke and told you everything in the subheading, but that’s no excuse to skip this section straight, okay? Well. Now, the importance of manual reloading of weapons in the moments of calm it may seem like a Fortnite exclusive. Only it’s not like that. All weapons that have a reloading mechanism can also be reloaded manually. It doesn’t apply to all: there are exceptions such as missiles. But as long as we’re dealing with assault rifles, machine guns and other lead blast dispensers, it’s a good idea to load whenever you get the chance. And that is between one clash and another.
“Not even Freud could explain to me / why I dream of increasing my weapons at night” | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
Experiment. Always. Success in the game also depends on how adaptable you are. If a mission gives you trouble, ask yourself two questions. Literally! Which attacks are hurting me the most? Would having more speed or defensive power help me? Should I focus more on HP damage, or more on enemy vulnerability? Am I running out of energy? Can I build a mecha that can stay out of enemy line of fire? Don’t be afraid to invest in extra componentsor to think about them. Nine times out of ten, improving the situation doesn’t require too many headaches.
Combine multiple damage types | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
There are multiple categories of damage in the game. The first, the more balanced one, is the kinetic damage: projectiles capable of inflicting physical damage between health and stagger. The explosive attacks they do a lot of damage, especially staggered. At this point, take advantage of the energy weapons: low in stagger damage (and savings on energy load), but also full of health damage. There are icons for each type: Kinetic weapons have the symbol of bulletplosives are represented by a missile and energy weapons are marked with a radius.
The Dark Souls of games with robots | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
No, Armored Core VI is not a soulslike. Yes, some soulslike elements have them (unfortunately for you) as the development team dictates. An example is the observation of the attack pattern of the bosses. Play defensively enough to counterattack. Move without standing alone on the ground (after all, that was our first tip, right?) and find out how to avoid the most dangerous attacks. When it’s your turn, think about what the boss’s weak point is. Some opponents are impossible to defeat if you face them from the wrong side, as they have more armored points than others. Eureka: that’s exactly the point. Find the Achilles heel and launch a killer offensive.
“It’s a secret for everyone” | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
For a mecha game, Armored Core VI boasts beautifully intricate maps. Both at the beginning of the game and (especially!) later, you will find secret diaries in equally hidden areas. Scanning, as a function, is often ignored. Wrong. Not only does it allow you to see enemies through walls, but also (and again, most importantly) secret areas. If you haven’t scanned an area properly, start snooping properly. Maybe even using the forward dash that the tutorial should have introduced you to, since it’s a valid option for moving even in combat!
The hasty cat makes mecha, uh, blind | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
With so many toys of mass destruction, it’s easy to forget that a mecha is not just a weapon (shame, didn’t the Iron Giant teach you anything at all?). In fact, you can also customize the head, the core, the legs, the generators, the thrusters, the pointer and anything else to make your robot your… your robot, indeed. If you are looking for improvements, don’t think immediately of weapons. Invest a little in too other types of components. Sure, a machine gun always cuts a damn good figure, but if you have to beat a retreat you’ll discover (at your expense) that those thrusters may have been needed more than you anticipated.
Mecha, mecha, there’s more than legs | Armored Core VI tips and tricks
Surprisingly, of all the components you can customize, the legs they are the ones with more variety. You can choose from four types: those bipeds (balanced option), those a reverse joints (excellent in jumping, very bad in staggering defense), le tetrapods (slow but strong and lasting in aerial movement) ei tracked (strong to frighten and with a lot of resistance to loads, but very slow). Depending on the mission, you want to show versatility….
