Abbiamo provato in anteprima Assassin's Creed Jade: perché un AC su mobile non è una cattiva idea thumbnail

Assassin’s Creed Jade previewed at Gamescom 2023

Colonia – On the occasion of Gamescom 2023we tried by hand and touchscreen one of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed Jade. It is also about the most discussed since it will be the first chapter of the renowned Assassin saga designed for mobile. Like many, the idea of an Assassin’s Creed on mobile devices didn’t particularly excite us, especially since this chapter is set in one of the historical periods most requested by fans: lancient China. Despite everything, after actually trying Assassin’s Creed Jade, we have to think again.

We tell you everything in our test that took place at this year’s Gamescom!

Our tried of Assassin’s Creed Jade

As anticipated, Assassin’s Creeed Jade is set in ancient China. Chronologically it is placed between the chapters of Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassins’ Creed Odyssey and will feature an assassin, male or female, who we will be able to customize at the start of a new game. The gameplay remains almost faithful to that of the series, presenting a mix of action, stealth mechanics and the legendary parkour, obviously all adapted to the touch controls of the smartphone or tablet.

The game is obviously linked to a single-player story full of content that will add to the stories of the saga. We are therefore not dealing with a spin-off but with a real new chapter of Assassin’s Creed.

Assassin’s Creed su mobile?!

Assassins Creed Jade

We are or rather, we will be, facing a completely free-to-play video game which will be available starting next year on both Android and iOS devices. Consequentially, the game will feature microtransactions and in-app purchases which, according to the developers, they will provide only aesthetic content for weapons and equipment that will not directly affect gameplay, avoiding the risk of falling into the abyss of pay-to-win video games.

Apart from these features and the use of the smartphone to play an Assassin’s Creed, the differences with the other chapters of the saga are minimal. In fact, the gameplay moves in line with the other episodes with action sequences, stealth mechanics, parkour and melee and ranged weapons to exploit against enemies. We will have different types of melee weapons such as swords, spears and halberds and bows of various types to prevail over the enemies.

Clearly the technical and graphic differences compared to the last chapters are very important, but the fluidity of the game (tested on a Samsung S23) was astounding. The attention to detail and setting meets the standards of the saga and the charm of medieval China is unmatched. Our test lasted about 45 minutes, so we can’t tell you too much about the plot, but despite the strangeness of a new chapter on mobile, Assassin’s Creed Jade has all it takes to enter the Pantheon of the most interesting episodes.

When does Assassin’s Creed Jade come out?

We currently do not have a date available for the release of Assassin’s Creed Jade but it seems that it will arrive in the course of 2024. Assassin’s Creed Jade will be available for free on Android and iOS devices.
