Samsung Electronics presented today Automatic locka new security tool for users of Samsung Galaxy designed to keep devices protected in a way that best suits their lifestyle.
Samsung Automatic Lock, what it is
Recently released on One UI 6 as part of the expanded arsenal of innovations in the field of security and privacy of Samsung Galaxy, Auto Lock is an optional package of additional security measures that gives users more choices as they explore the full features of Samsung Galaxy’s open ecosystem.
With Samsung Auto Lock users have freedom of choice
One of the features of Automatic lock is the prevention of installing apps from unauthorized sources, known as sideloading. Sideloading offers numerous benefits, including greater flexibility and control over your device’s functionality.
Those who use the sideloading safely will not be affected by any changes as the Auto Lock feature is turned off by default. For those who are new to sideloading, turning on Auto Block can provide additional peace of mind by blocking potential social engineering attacks such as voice phishing, where attackers could convince users to install malicious software.
Auto Block has a number of additional controls, including enabling app safety controls to help detect potential malware and prevent commands and software installations via USB cable. This can help protect users in situations where someone has physical access to their device, such as when charging a phone at an airport.
With this feature also comes an update to Message Guard, which mitigates the Zero Click attacks, i.e. direct messages containing malware. Initially launched for messaging apps from Google and Samsung, it can now help protect users who use popular third-party apps. This way, users have more choice about which apps they can use safely.
Towards new security systems
Samsung sets the foundation for a safer and more secure mobile experience for Galaxy users, and Auto Lock goes further by combining industry-leading security standards with user choice to let customers control their device however they want. As the latest feature added to Samsung’s suite of security and privacy innovations, Auto Lock further optimizes the mobile experience for users in the Galaxy ecosystem.
Availability
Auto Lock is now available on devices Samsung Galaxy compatible with One UI 6.
