Casio presents a carbon G-Shock, in two variants
The launch of the first G-SHOCK DW-5000C in 1983 marked the creation of a totally innovative product category: the so-called indestructible watch. This model offered unmatched resistance, allowing it to be worn on the wrist in any situation.
Over the years the brand has increasingly used the carbon, a material approximately seven times stronger than stainless steel and remarkably light. Currently, G-SHOCK watches are made of resin, metal or carbon, sometimes combining multiple materials in some models. The new GCW-B5000UN, which fits into the 5000 series and maintains the iconic shape of the first G-SHOCK, takes advantage of the carbon for its members, ensuring current indestructibility through production processes.
This new model uses different types of carbon per the case, the bezel, the bracelet and the buckle, creating a complex structure for the watch. With its weight of suns 65 grams, It’s 61 percent lighter than its stainless steel predecessor, the GMW-B5000D, which weighed about 167 grams.
Il forged carbonwhich offers considerable flexibility, is used for the bezel and the bracelet, while the multilayer carbon for its exceptional resistance to bending. In addition, the monocoque case and integrated caseback are made from carbon fiber reinforced resin.
In addition to great resistance, the watch features an inspired design with images that look to cosmic space, featuring a motif that evokes the Big Bang and the planets of the galaxy. This series includes two variations: one featuring a print two-tone in shades of purple and blue, enriched by opalescent grains, and a nera. Additionally, the watches feature the G-SHOCK 40th anniversary logo, designed by the artist Eric Haze and engraved on the case back. More information on the official website.
