COUMI ANC-860 review: compactness and efficiency

Simple and essential packaging | COUMI ANC-860 review

The packaging of these earphones is the simplest and most tidy I’ve seen so far. The sliding package is elegant and “clean” along all sides. The information and images are reduced to the essential, giving an excellent visual impact. The sliding compartment is divided into two distinct areas. The first, delimited by a shaped sponge, will have inside the case with our earphones inside, while the second is occupied by the accessories box.

Inside this box we will find the power cable, a resealable bag with interchangeable rubber pads inside and the usual paper bundle consisting of an instruction manual, a quick use guide, the guarantee certificate and a discount card. An important note from this point of view goes to the interchangeable rubber pads.

The latter in fact are subdivided, as with all earphones, in three sizes: large, medium and small. However, contrary to what happens for other models such as i JVC HA-A7T or the UGREEN HiTune T1, these rubbers will be present with a double pair. Definitely a good idea if we were to unfortunately lose one. The only flaw, however, derives from the fact that they are not cataloged, and therefore recognizable, in any way. To recognize them we will therefore have to place them next to each other to compare them.

Design, functionality and autonomy | COUMI ANC-860 review

Contrary to what happens with other headphones, the company has given up the usual design with a voluminous body that goes into the auricle and the stem that protrudes from the ear in which we often find the microphones. The main body of the headset is in fact located outside the pavilion and, although it may seem unbalanced towards the outside, the adherence provided by the rubber tips and the shape itself adopted for the terminal part of the earphones guarantees an excellent fit.

Even the case of the earphones does not go unnoticed in terms of size, recalling in some ways some of the old boxes for the rings. On the upper part we then find a leather cord, ideal if you want to hang headphones and certainly very useful during charging given the short length of the cable. The whole gives a slightly rock style which does not hurt and makes casual a product that could look really elegant if seen only from the outside. In the back we find the connettore USB type-C which guarantees fast charging, while inside there are the slots for the earphones and a single luminous LED that indicates the charge status of the case.

Looking closer to the earphones, along the external part we can see, in addition to the company logo, a large area entirely dedicated to the various tactile controls. Although it may seem like a button, a bit like it happened in the JVC earphones, in reality the area appears to be entirely touch. This saves us from pressing the device into our ears, but at the same time confers an answer always ready for every input. Under the logo, on the other hand, there is the LED that indicates the status of the earphones (connection, charge, etc.).

From the autonomy side, I was able to find, with my great pleasure, high durability, especially without the ANC function active. I can confirm that the times reported in the data sheet by the manufacturers themselves are the actual ones. You will never risk running out of headphones during a long business call, while watching some episodes of your TV series or simply listening to your favorite music. Also charging inside the case is quite fast and in less than a couple of hours you will find your devices charged and ready to use. To this high autonomy is then added that of the same case that it also guarantees a week of use (with 3-4 hours a day) without charging.

How is the audio quality? | COUMI ANC-860 review

So far in this review on the COUMI ANC-860 earphones I have only talked about them aesthetically. One of the most important properties is still missing, which concerns precisely the audio quality of the same. That’s why I’ve decided to devote an entire section of this review to it.

I’ll be honest with you, from a pair of earphones that cost just € 36.99 I never expected such audio quality. They obviously don’t compare to a pair of the best headphones around. However, in their category, they are the ones with the best sound that I have tried to date. They sound very warm, even at higher levels, delivering a wide range of full-bodied sounds, from the lowest to the highest. On the latter, however, some of that crystallinity that characterizes them is lost.

Technology ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) hybrid boasts 6 microphones per headset, significantly reducing background noise and giving greater clarity to our conversations. From this point of view they will certainly not be the best around, but they do their job very well. Against, the ANC tends to muffle our voice slightly during calls, but despite this small detail it always remains clear and free of imperfections.

Let’s sum it up

We have now reached the end of this review on the COUMI ANC-860 earphones and it is time to draw conclusions. While the earbuds don’t look as sleek as other models out there, their structure guarantees an unparalleled sense of robustness. The wearability is very good, keeping them firmly in our pavilion without the danger of sudden falls.

The audio quality is certainly very good, with well defined and warm sounds. This guarantees a very wide acoustic range with full-bodied bass, perhaps too much, and acute delineated but less crystalline than reality. The ANC function is also good thanks to the six earphone microphones that guarantee one considerable noise reduction. However, precisely because of this technology, our voice on call will be slightly muffled, although it still remains clear and free of other imperfections.

The battery life of the earphones and case is similar to that of other direct competitors as well guarantees good use throughout the week. Also important is the USB type-C recharge which allows a complete recharge in less than two hours. The only flaw from this point of view is the absence of external indicator lights indicating the charge of the case. In short, very good performance albeit with some very small mole, but at such a low price in my opinion you could not expect better.

That’s all for this review on the COUMI ANC-860 earphones. I remind you that I am available for purchase on Amazon at the recommended price of € 36.99. To not miss further reviews regarding the hardware world, keep following the pages of techgameworld.com!
