If saving is your priority, don’t worry too much: Diablo 4 will take care of giving you all the means to secure your save, as you will see in the first moments of the game. You assume that title requires Battle.net account to even get started. Then you need a link to server, who were put under stress not too long ago (to avoid unfortunate situations like the one below). In short, it is natural to think that there are all the conditions to consider your progress safe. You should have already guessed something, but if we need to go further into the matter we are happy to do it, God forbid!

So how does the rescue take place? Way, way simpler than you’d expect. It’s so easy, in fact, that you don’t need to do anything. Well yes, saving takes place automatically in real time. This means that with every progress, however minor it may be, your game will be saved by default. Proceed in the adventure as if nothing had happened, and each new development will be set in stone on your account. Of course, as we said in our preview, we have to specify that if the game stops abruptly during a dungeon you will keep your belongings… but not the progress within it. Better hurry and take down the boss, then!

Sorry for the… menacing quote to early DOOM, but whoever read it will have figured out what the other way to save progress is. In the options menu you will find the always useful item for leave the game, accessible on PC even faster with the Esc key. Exit the game and all progress made up to that point will be saved. However, we can confirm that, beyond the possible change between the characters saved on your account (below), there is no way to load separate save slots. And the same is true, as you will have understood by now, also for manual saving. Switching saving and loading for cheating is not allowed!
