Walt Disney recently announced that the new Disney + ad-supported subscription will contain few commercials. According to what has been revealed, the streaming service will contain approx four minutes of commercials per hour on the ad-supported version of the platform that will be launched during the year. Let’s find out all the details together.
Few commercials on the ad-supported Disney + subscription, word of Disney
The company also decided to do not broadcast commercials during programming dedicated to preschool children. Preschoolers who use their own profile to watch Disney + with advertising support they will not see any advertisements, independently from what they will choose to stream. Rita Ferro, Disney President of Sales, said:
We will never collect data on individual children.
The expected ad load of four minutes per hour is inferior to that of most Disney + rivals and significantly lower than what you can find on the Traditional TV. Hulu offers nearly twice as much advertising as Disney +; Peacock, on the other hand, has five minutes per hour while HBO Max will have four, like Disney.
Ad shoppers say Disney + is trying to get advertisers to pay around $ 50-60 to reach 1,000 spectators, a measure known as CPM. Disney declined to comment on pricing. According to advertising buyers, this price range is in line with that of other streaming services high level; however it remains expensive when you consider the brands they cannot request for their ad to appear in specific programswhich they can do with traditional TV.
Still, the prospect of commercials coming to Disney + is exciting for Madison Avenue. This is because streaming services are one of the few places where advertisers can reach youngwhich in recent years have largely abandoned traditional TV.
Disney at the moment did not disclose the actual cost of the ad-supported subscription. We know the ad-free version is available for $ 7.99 per monthso we expect a much lower price.
