Video game fans will remember well that, before the pandemic, the month of June was reserved for industry news presented at E3. Then Covid-19 ruined everything, forcing ESA to cancel the two editions of 2021 and 2021. Now, however, the company does not seem to want to resign itself to this sad situation, and says it is ready to confirm the organization of theE3 nel 2023. Ready to fly to Los Angeles then?
E3 2023: ESA confirms the event in person and online
“We are thrilled to be back in 2023 with both a digital and in-person event,” he said Stan Pierre Louis, CEO of ESA. “As much as we love these digital events and as much as they reach people and want that global reach, we also know that there is a strong desire for people to come together – to be able to connect in person and see each other and talk about what makes great games “. On the other hand, it has been since 1995 that the convention based in Los Angeles has represented one of the most important events of the videogame sector. Then, unfortunately, the pandemic and other vicissitudes forced the convention to skip for two years in a row.
Yet, in recent years a series of digital events such as Nintendo Direct and Microsoft presentations have helped fill the void left by E3. But it wasn’t enough. “I think the great thing about all this experimentation is that companies of all sizes are trying to figure out what works best to promote the product and content they are trying to share with consumers,” said Pierre-Louis. And I think there is room for a physical show. I think it’s important to have a digital reach. Combining these two, I think there is a critical element of what we think E3 can deliver. “
These statements bode well for a real organization of E3 in 2023, even if ESA has not yet revealed the official date of the event. Yet one thing is quite certain: the event will take place, both face to face and online. And ESA is unlikely to change its mind.
