Focus on protecting the privacy of underage Facebook and Instagram users: Meta’s goal
As officially announced today, in the near future, Meta will focus on the privacy of underage Facebook and Instagram users. To achieve this goal, the implementation of a series of new features regarding location information (related to the places where you are tagged or in which you are tagged) is planned. The settings relating to friend lists and the possibility of interacting under posts, via comments, will also be revised.
For the users under 16 or 18 years old (depends on the state and its legislation), Meta will apply a series of settings on Facebook and Instagram aimed at increasing the privacy of the profiles. In this way, the company intends to guarantee maximum protection to younger users who will be able to use social networks in complete safety. Meta also confirmed that it is working on new tools and training activities to “stop the online diffusion of self-produced intimate images”.
