To quickly provide a concrete response to the ongoing humanitarian emergency, Fastweb and its employees have launched a fundraiser to help those fleeing the war in Ukraine. Employees donated their working hours, which Fastweb will double in value, to finance two initiatives, which aim to help refugees arriving from Ukraine at the Hungarian border and concretely support their reception in Italy.
Fastweb’s initiative for Ukraine is the result of a collaboration with the Cesvi Foundation, a humanitarian organization present in 23 countries. Fastweb supports the construction of a heated shed for the first reception in the Hungarian city of Zahony, which is located 2 km from the Ukrainian border and is Hungary’s main entry point from Ukraine. The new structure is able to accommodate up to 10,000 people a day and makes it possible to improve the conditions of stay and transit of refugees, as well as to offer all essential services in a coordinated and efficient manner, including the distribution of hot meals and medical and psychological assistance, both for adults and children.
Fastweb: the company’s initiative in favor of Ukraine
Thanks to the collaboration with another non-profit partner in the third sector, Fastweb will use the funds that will also be raised in such a way as to support the reception of Ukrainian refugees in Italy. These people will be provided with a path of support and integration towards full autonomy.
Another initiative with which Fastweb has dealt with the emergency in recent weeks has been the zeroing for all its customers of the costs of calls from landlines, sms and roaming from the mobile network, to and from Ukraine. Finally, the company also supports the extraordinary fundraising campaign launched by the Italian Red Cross, UNHCR and UNICEF, which refers to the joint number 45525.
