Fastweb is stepping up its sustainability strategy and presents the new “eco-friendly” SIM cards made from 100% recycled plastic. Furthermore, the SIMs are certified Carbon Neutral during the production phase from Thalesan expert company in making eco-SIMs.
Fastweb, here are the ecological SIM cards in 100% recycled plastic
New SIMs become available for purchase starting today at all flagship stores and on the company’s official website. They will gradually replace the SIMs currently produced in traditional plastic and they will offer users the same experience and quality as traditional cards. Fastweb explains that the recycled plastic comes from disposal of old refrigeratorsi, through a process of reuse of raw materials with low ecological impact.

Compared to the previous SIMs, the new SIMs have one size reduced by 50%. And thanks to the carbon offset program of Thales, are Carbon Neutral certified, guaranteeing zero emissions of carbon during the production phase. Packaging also uses biodegradable and eco-friendly polyester and reducing its size by 50% to further reduce the use of plastic.
Even the information sheet provided to customers limits the consumption of paper and ink, and is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified.
This initiative continues Fastweb’s environmental sustainability initiatives. Since 2015, the company has been purchasing 100% of its electricity from renewable sources and has the goal of becoming a Carbon Neutral company by 2025. More information on the Fastweb website.
