The race for smartphones with foldable displays is already starting to slow down. The relatively young market segment is already having to deal with declining sales. The confirmation comes from DSCC analysts who certified a reduction in shipments during the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year.
First drop in sales of foldable smartphones
Data from DSCC analysts confirm a reduction in sales of foldable smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2022. In this period, in fact, shipments were justto 3.1 million units with a down 48% from the previous quarter (marked by the debut of the new Galaxy Z from Samsung, a real reference in the sector) and the 26% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021.
Overall, in any case, the foldable smartphone sector closed 2022 with growth with 12.9 million smartphones shipped and an improvement in +62% on an annual basis. Note that Samsung continues to lead the market. According to the data collected, in fact, the Korean company can count on a market share of 83% which certifies once and for all its role as leader in the leaflet sector.
