Amazon, Hulu, Fortnite: there are many sites and services that have gone down e remained offline for a few minutes around 1pm today, December 22nd. The service started working again after less than half an hour from the first problems, for which a cause is still being sought.
Fortnite, Amazon and other sites have gone down
The dynamics are not yet clear. Some experts talk about a problem with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which host some of the most important streaming and gaming platforms on their servers, as well as many different sites. But at the moment, the only sure thing is that for about half an hour, around 1pm, many sites stopped working.
The Down Detector site has recorded thousands of reports indicating that the Fortnite game was not working properly. Along with him also the streaming service Hulu and other popular video games such as Rocket League. Furthermore, it appears that the platform for cryptocurrency exchanges too Coinbase, widely used by crypto enthusiasts, did not respond for a few tens of minutes.
The problem appears to have been solved in a matter of minutes, with almost all services starting up again in no time. But the fact that there were so many realities involved suggests a infrastructure problem who was the host.
In this year we have had more faces of the ‘alarms’ about finished offline services. And the fear is always that there may be the work of malicious cybercriminals behind it. But in most cases it turns out to be a trivial problem during maintenance infrastructure. Something relatively common, but it has a huge impact as more and more people depend on the connection for different types of service.
The problems in this case, however, lasted just under half an hour only. Even if those who were playing Fortnite or making the latest purchases before Christmas will be scared, the situation seems to have completely disappeared.
