According to CEO Nirav Patel, this has always been the company's plan. As he tells The Verge, Framework originally hadand other workable ideas beyond laptops. However, it chose to address the notebook space first to meet the needs of “PC builders, enthusiasts and Linux users overlooked by big manufacturers.”
Patel does not reveal what the new product categories will be, but suggests they could “be as challenging as laptops or simpler to make.” But now that the company has an established infrastructure, it may be easier to implement them.
Framework intends to build a roadmap to continue developing each new product category year after year, not just making them repairable — but also appealing to consumers. The company has approx 50 employees and plans to expand to 60 by the end of the year, with further growth in 2025.
