On the occasion of Google Cloud Next 21 several have registered announcements related to sustainability. The company, in fact, aims at support customers in the decarbonization program of its applications and digital infrastructures to overcome the challenges related to climate change. To better support its customers to take immediate climate action, Google Cloud has launched several innovations.
Google Cloud: new tools to support customers in measuring environmental impact
Carbon Footprint is the new tool capable of providing an accurate snapshot of the electricity carbon footprint associated with the use of Google Cloud Platform. The tool is designed with Atos, Etsy, HSBC, L’Oreal and Salesforce. Note that Carbon Footprint is available to each customer, at no cost, in the Cloud Console. For customers, this tool could prove very useful in making the necessary assessments to combat climate change.
The other tools available
It will also become available for selected corporate customers Google Earth Engine. In this way, companies will be able to combine the power of cloud computing, satellite imagery and AI to decarbonise their operations. It should also be noted that the debut of Carbon Reduction Recommendations. With this tool, Google Cloud will alert customers of all inactive cloud instances and associated carbon footprint.
