Google would have internally confirmed one hiring break for the next two weeks, while it counts the perhaps already taken and other currencies are used. This news follows an internal note from Sundar Pichai that the company would slow hiring until the end of the year.
Google pauses hiring for the next two weeks
According to a new report from The Information, the vice president Prabhakar Raghavan would communicate the decision to the other Googlers via email. “We will use this time to check our presence and align with a new set of priority staff requests for the next three months “.
This news comes after CEO Pichai wrote in an internal email that Google had already hired 10 thousand people in the second quarter of 2022 and would therefore have slowed down hiring, limiting himself to critical engineering and technical roles.
The company then confirmed to the press that “As Sundar announced, we are slowing down hiring for the rest of the year. In line with this, we are pausing most of the new job postings for two weeks to allow teams to prioritize roles and establish hiring plans for the rest of the year “.
This announcement stays in line with what appear to be the expectations for most of the big tech companies, with Meta who announced in May that they had blocked hiring, Twitter e Spotify who announced it and Apple which plans to do so in 2023. Netflix e Tesla they even fired several employees.
