Insomniac Gamesa video game development company, has suffered a serious hacker attack ransomware-type last week. The hacker group asked for 50 bitcoins, which is equivalent to ben 2 million dollars, in exchange for the non-publication online of some documents belonging to the video game company. Since the documents were published, it is assumed that the ransom was not paid.
Insomniac Games under hacker attack: what happened
A group of hackers put the video game development company, Insomniac Games, under attack, which decided not to pay the ransom of 2 million dollars, requested in 50 bitcoins. As a result, the hacker group has published over 1.3 million files onlinefor a total of 1.6 TB of data.
These include personal documents of company employees, conversations between workers on Slack, accounting and human resources documents, but also files related to video games planned for future production by Insomniac Games.

The documents released by the hackers who snooped around Insomniac Games have been released online. Among the documents we find i video games that will be released in the future.
Among these we find: a spin-off of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 dedicated to Venomscheduled for 2025. It will be released the following year Marvel’s Wolverine, already announced some time ago. Instead, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 should be released in 2028.
It does not end here. In 2029 it should be the turn of the third and new chapter of the series Ratchet & Clank, the following year it will be the turn of the video game X-Man.
The relationship with PlayStation
We also remember that the video game development company was acquired some time ago by PlayStation. The studio has a long-standing close relationship with Sony and is best known for its work on the Ratchet & Clank and Resistance series, although it has also worked with Xbox in the past (on Xbox One launch title Sunset Overdrive) and recently He dabbles in PC and mobile games.
