The engineer Ken Pillonel had made the first iPhone with USB-C port and now done the reverse: he created the first Android smartphone with Lightning input. This second hybrid probably won’t have the same appeal as his first work, but it undoubtedly demonstrates the young engineer’s skills. Unless it’s a April Fool particularly well thought out.
The first Android smartphone with a Lightning port
Ken Pillonel had made many iPhone users dream by building the first Apple smartphone with a USB-C port. A technology that allows you to transmit data faster, particularly useful if for example you want to transfer the ProRes video recorded on iPhone 13 Pro Max to your Mac.
His new work will probably not have the same success: we don’t believe there are many Android users who dream of changing charging cables. But it shows that it can be done.
The test carried out by Ken Pillonel
The video shot by the engineer comes out right on the first of April, suggesting that perhaps Pillonel may have played a joke. Or it could underline how the whole project was born to try something fun and “bring balancing in chaos”As he says in the movie.
But Engadget did an interview with the engineer which suggests that he actually made this modification. To prove your skill and hone your skills. But also to raise some funds for future projects, as the first iPhone with USB-C sold for olter 100 mila dollari.
Perhaps some other collector will be able to finance his projects. And maybe some big company will be able to hire him to put his skills under contract.
