Let’s find out together, in this dedicated review, how Hi-Fi Rush behaves on PS5: Chai’s adventure returns in all its splendor also on the Sony flagship
Microsoft’s strategy has been crystal clear for several years now: sell services, not consoles. And it is also for this reason that the very concept of exclusivity, for the Redmond company, will gradually lose more and more value over time. It didn’t seem strange to us in the slightest, so see the official announcement of the arrival of some titles, such as Sea of Thieves, Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush also on the PlayStation 5 console. It can only be good for us gamers to have two companies with such a different mentality on the current market, that’s for sure, but only time will tell us which of the two strategies, the progressive one dedicated to services or the more traditional one dedicated to the production of high-impact console and single-player will survive. Having said that, let’s move on to the main topic of this article: Hi-Fi Rush has arrived on PS5, we took the opportunity to replay it and here is our review!
The Perfect Drug
We had already tried and written a review of Hi-Fi Rush in February last year (you can find it here!), when it arrived on Xbox, including Game Pass, and PC out of nowhere, shadowdropped during a Developer Direct and so we said to ourselves : but yes, let’s get it on PS5 too. On the other hand, as you can see from the review at the time, we were enraptured by Chai’s bizarre and adrenaline-filled adventure, made of heart-pounding fights, incredible songs and pure action, but to the rhythm of music.
The Pulse | Hi-Fi Rush PS5 review
So let’s go back to impersonating this wannabe-Rockstar-Chai, a young man who relies on the Vandalay company and its Armstrong project, hoping to be able to recover the use of his right arm and thus become a great rock star. Obviously, something has to go wrong, otherwise the approximately 12 hours of main adventure would not have followed. During the grafting of the prosthetic limb, Chai’s Walkman also ends up in the machine, which is grafted into the center of her chest. This will make life and the world around our protagonist perpetually to the rhythm of music.
From a banal narrative exponent, the perception of the game world to the constant rhythm of music obviously becomes the main key to the gameplay. Every action performed by the protagonist, every step, every blow delivered and even the beating of the life bar and the movement of objects, everything in Hi-Fi Rush follows the rhythm of one of the splendid tracks that the developers have chosen to amuse us. Everything happens with such incredible naturalness that after the first few minutes of adjustment, everything will seem completely natural.

The combat system follows the same logic and, although the game itself tells us that even if we increase the rhythm of pressing the keys, Chai will always attack following the musical one, going in time with the action will allow us to obtain spectacular combos and scores exponentially higher in the various stages. The combat system is based on other exponents of the action genre, come i classici Bayonetta o Devil May Cry, with buttons dedicated to light and heavy attacks, dodging and parrying. If you want to delve deeper into the general aspects of Hi-Fi Rush, however, so as not to be repetitive we refer you to our review for the Xbox version.
Shut Down the Campus | Review Hi-Fi Rush PS5
So let’s move on to the focus of this review of Hi-Fi Rush for PS5, we don’t want to be verbose. How the Tango Gameworks title runs on Sony’s flagship? The clearest answer we can give you is: good, exactly how it ran on Xbox. No technical problems of any kind, no drop in frame rate or similar and also the latency of the commands, which you can check and set from the settings menu, went very well to standard for us. We assure you that seeing the colorful, cartoonish and subtly pop aesthetic of Hi-Fi Rush again on PlayStation 5 is a joy for all self-respecting passionate gamers.
And the Dualsense? Yes, it was implemented, maybe not as much as we would have liked, but it was implemented. Both the adaptive triggers have been used, but unfortunately only for some combo attacks with the other characters, and the haptic feedback, which will make you hear some of Chai’s attacks, her steps and other small interactions. There is also the possibility of activating the controller speaker, which will make you hear the rhythm of the beats better, if the illustrations on the screen are not enough for you. That’s it, nothing else to say except: try it. You will not regret it.
Synesthesia
And so the time has come to take stock of this review of Hi-Fi Rush on PS5. There is little to be done: the rhythm game from Tango Gameworks and Bethesda is a pearl of inestimable value, wherever you want to play it. The features of the Dualsense simply refine and embellish an already incredible job, carried out with skill, mastery and lots and lots of love. We recommend purchasing it on the Sony flagship simply to all those who do not have an Xbox or a PC to play it on. Because there are titles that go beyond exclusives and that should truly be experienced by everyone. One of these is certainly Hi-Fi Rush.
Hi-Fi Rush is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series S and PC, also via the Xbox Game Pass service.
