When will it debut High school lifethe new expansion of The Sims 4 will be accompanied by a base update which will introduce a new feature for all players: the choice of their own sexual orientation. Let’s find out all the details together.
In The Sims 4 you will be able to choose your Sim’s sexual orientation
For some time now, Sims have been able to have both heterosexual relationships that same-sex relationships with Sims within the famous video game. However, the upcoming update will allow players to make one set of choices and then of customize more thoroughly your Sim’s preferences.
SimGuruJessicaHead of Design for the High School Life Expansion, said:
“With Sexual Orientation, you can assign your Sim a series of attraction parameters. If a Sim whose gender does not match your Sim’s attraction settings attempts a romantic interaction with your Sim, they will be rejected.
You can select any combination of attraction boxes (including all or none) to reflect your Sim’s romantic orientation. Here’s what these boxes look like – which you can change later in the game using a mirror or dresser. ” (see the image above.)
SimGuruJessica points out that although it is a good starthe is alone a start and that clearly there is still a lot of work to be done. The gender options limited to “men” and “women” are perhaps the biggest problem, although at the moment it is limited by the game’s code, not its team. Regarding this he stated:
“Later, we will be able to expand this to include other gender identities that we don’t currently have.
I realize there will be concerns that initial options are binary in nature. Mechanically, non-binary Sims don’t yet exist in The Sims 4. While we’ve made great progress in representing non-binary Sims with the pronoun update, we recognize that pronouns aren’t the same as gender identities. We recognize that we still have a long way to go in this regard. “
SimGuruJessica also answered everyone who asked if it will be possible to deactivate the new feature, coming with the High School Life expansion. The answer is no.
“No,” said SimGuruJessica, “While we try to give players the ability to disable certain features of the game, LGBTQIA + identities are a given and not a toggle to be turned on or off.”
We remind you that The Sims 4: High School Life will debut on July 28 on PC and consoles. For more information you can consult the official website.
