Earlier this year, at WWDC 2023, Apple offered a preview of the new features of its operating systems iOS 17 and iPadOS 17but after the Wonderlust 2023 event we have an exact date for their release: the September 18th. Here are the main new features and the iPhones and iPads they will arrive on.
iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, release date and supported devices
iOS 17 promises to bring a host of exciting new features for iPhone users. As NameDrop, a new feature that makes sharing contacts easier. With a simple gesture, users will be able to exchange contact information quickly and intuitively. And then there is Poster Card, turn your photos into digital works of art. You can customize your images with text, graphics, and even animations to create unique and engaging photo shares.
Then there are news for iMessage, including greater group chat customization, new animations, and the ability to pin important messages. And the interesting StandBy mode.
iPadOS 17 introduce interactive widget directly on the home screen, offering quick access to the most important information and apps. You can then follow the activities live, you can collaborate in real time on shared documents and projects directly from iPad. And then there are several new features to customize the Lock Screen. And then there is the introduction of‘Health app on iPad, which will allow users to monitor their health and wellbeing directly from the tablet.
