ipad mini 2021 recencesione 08
Apple is producing a new iPad miniwhich aims to throw into the first half of 2024. But it won’t be the foldable iPad analysts are talking about, when instead it’s a refresh of the current model, released in 2021.
iPad mini will arrive in 2024, but it won’t be foldable
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has tweeted about the possible launch of an iPad mini in 2024, which will update the current model released in 2021. However, this is not the foldable iPad that has been discussed in recent months: it seems that Apple doesn’t want to present that kind of format (still in testing phase) before 2025.
The early launch comes to give an affordable alternative to those looking for a no-frills tablet (and don’t want one of the cheaper Android-powered tablets). In fact it seems that the new device will fall within the range around ai 500 euros of the current mini. While the foldable iPad should have a price that analyst Kuo defines “significantly more expensive” than the other iPads.
CCS Insight analyst Ben Wood further explains that “at the moment it doesn’t make sense for Apple to build a foldable iPhone. We think he will avoid this trend and probably give a shot to the foldable iPad alternative”.
According to Wood, a foldable iPhone would be “incredibly expensive” to avoid cannibalizing sales of standard iPhones. However, he thinks that sooner or later Apple must confront the fact that the top-of-the-range market is moving towards the leaflet category.
Switching from a foldable iPad sooner could teach Apple how to make these types of products and lower the cost of research and development of these types of products. However, it looks like we won’t be seeing it before 2025, while an iPad mini should arrive the year before.
