The two new top of the range, iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, in addition to the beautiful titanium body, have, as an internal component, a new new chipset. Called A17 Pro, this new processor is, according to Apple itself, the most powerful ever mounted in a smartphone. With a 6-core CPU it is able to run even AAA games with ray tracing support in native format. It sounds like science fiction, but apparently it’s really possible.
With a tech demo, Apple showed the iPhone 15 Pro in action real-time ray tracing effects without any drop in frame rate. Furthermore, it showed video games in action such as Resident Evil 4 Remake, Village and even the new Assassin’s Creed Mirage (which is scheduled for release on PC and consoles on October 6th). Furthermore, it is not a question of porting, but of real games that run natively on your phone. Net of some compromises, obviously, but it still seems very promising.

Our doubts mainly concern hardware overheating and obviously also battery life. Considering how computationally expensive it is to run such large titles correctly, despite the power of the processor, It seems unlikely to us that the phone will last long in terms of battery life and that it won’t suffer from overheating. We’ll see!
Meanwhile, some further details on the upcoming video games. Resident Evil 4 Remake and Village do not yet have a release date on iPhone 15, but they should arrive before the end of the year. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is scheduled for early 2024 and, if that wasn’t enough, Kojima Productions has announced that Death Stranding Director’s Cut can also be easily played on iPhone 15. When? We don’t know yet, probably this year.
