So far we have seen a few portable gaming devices noteworthy in 2021, such as Nintendo Switch OLED and the future Steam Deck. Now it seems that Lenovo is also working on their own portable console, Lenovo Legion Play, which was due to debut earlier this year.
Lenovo Legion Play: The potential rival of the Steam Deck and Switch, powered by Android
A GBA Temp forum goer discovered images showing some kind of console da gaming Lenovo. These images were in turn linked to the manufacturer’s website and suggested the name Lenovo Legion Play. The Liliputing site followed this information and found that the images were uploaded to the Lenovo Germany webpage and the Japanese one related to MWC 2021. This suggests that the company intended to launch the device earlier this year, but that the plans have changed.
The recovered images, also present on Lenovo’s website, show a portable gaming device equipped with Android with a kind of custom launcher. We also see the icons for Geforce Now, Play Store and several Google apps. Other noteworthy details in the images include the USB-C connectivity, a 3.5mm port, two analog sticks, four front buttons, a D-pad, trigger keys and a kind of concave back. However, unlike other similar devices, some cameras do not appear to be present.

There is no information regarding the chipset or other technical details. It is also unclear whether Lenovo will position it as a pure gaming console or as a smartphone, as one of the images appears to show a cellular signal strength icon.
AndroidAuthority attempted to contact Lenovo to find out what happened to this device that was supposed to be released in early 2021, but they haven’t received any response yet. We may see this Lenovo Legion Play debut in the coming months, unless the company has decided to abandon the project.
