The Civil protection declared that from today the system IT-alert it will be activated exclusively for four specific types of risks. These include the collapse of a large dam, major accidents in industrial plants, nuclear or radiological emergency situations, and volcanic activity in specific areas such as the Campi Flegrei, Vesuvius and the island of Vulcano.

The experimental phase involved the entire Italian territory, with targeted tests in specific regions and for particular risks. However, as DDay reports, some risk categories, such as “intense rainfall”, “tidal wave generated by an earthquake” require further analysis. Then, the testing phase will continue for another year.

We will periodically receive “test” messages both for the risks covered by the system and for those still in the verification phase. Test messages begin with the word “TEST” and are used to verify the functionality of the system.
