A group of investors has purchased the computer security company McAfee, with an agreement that is valid 14 billion dollars. The change of ownership should take place in the second half of 2022.
McAfee bought for $ 14 billion
In 1987 John McAfee founded the software company to which he gave his surname, famous in the IT world for bringing the very first commercial antivirus. The founder, who tragically took his own life in jail in Barcelona in June, sold the company as early as 1994. The name remained but without direct involvement of the founder.
In 2010 Intel bought the company for $ 7.68 billion, changing its name to the antivirus software and replacing it with Intel Security. But last year, in October, the company made its own return to the stock market.
After selling to Symphony Technology Group for 4 billion dollars the “Enterprise” part of its network, has decided to invest everything in private security. And the sales have proved her right: McAfee continues to be one of the leaders in the world of cybersecurity for many users.
In the group of investors who bought this historic antivirus company, there are Advent International Corp., Permira Advisers e Crosspoint Capital Partners. The acquisition will take effect in 2022. Once the switch is complete, McAfee will be withdrawn from the stock exchange.
