Microsoft did not abandon the idea of realizing smartphones or other portable folding-type devices. After Surface Duo and the Surface Duo 2, characterized by a “book” design, the American company is now working on new solutions. The confirmation comes from an unpublished patent appeared online in these hours. This patent anticipates Microsoft’s possible future folding devices.
Microsoft continues to think about new foldable devices: Surface Trio coming?
Online, the project depicted in the image attached to the documentation of the patent filed by Microsoft has already been defined Surface Trio. Unlike the Surface Duo, this solution anticipated by Microsoft has two hinges and, therefore, potentially, can count on three different displays to maximize productivity even on the move.
The solution anticipated by Microsoft’s patent could represent a possible evolution of the Surface range for those looking for an ultra-portable device. The Surface Duo is a real smartphone but with a decidedly different design compared to normal mobile phone devices.
The proposal anticipated by Microsoft in this new patent dates back to June 2020 but was published by US Patent & Trademark Office only last December 23, 2021. We will see if the American company will really follow up on this idea.
