Oracle Corp e Microsoft Corp they announced Oracle Database@Azure. It is a solution that allows customers to directly access Oracle database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and deployed in Microsoft Azure data centers.
Oracle Database@Azure, what is the service born from the collaboration with Microsoft
Oracle Database@Azure delivers all the performance, scale, and workload availability benefits of Oracle Database on OCI with the security, flexibility, and services of Microsoft Azure. Including the latest AI solutions such as Azure OpenAI. This combination gives customers greater flexibility when it comes to running workloads. Additionally, it provides an optimized environment that simplifies cloud purchasing and management between Oracle Database and Azure services.
What the partnership between Oracle and Microsoft offers
With the introduction of Oracle Database@Azure, Oracle and Microsoft are helping customers accelerate their migration to the cloud, so they can modernize their IT environments and leverage Azure infrastructure, tools and services. Customers will benefit from:
- More options for moving Oracle databases to the cloud;
- Maximum levels of performance, scalability and availability of Oracle databases, with the same features and prices;
- Simplicity, security and latency of a single operating environment (datacenter) within Azure;
- Ability to build new cloud-native applications using OCI and Azure technologies, including cutting-edge Azure AI solutions;
- Guarantee of an architecture tested and supported by two of the most experienced companies in the cloud sector.
Multicloud made for customers
The new service offers a fully integrated experience for deploying, managing, and consuming Oracle Database instances within Azure, enabling organizations to driveinnovation in the cloud sector thanks to existing skills to exploit the best of Oracle and Microsoft capabilities directly within the Azure platform.
The new service is designed to eliminate key customer challenges in adopting multicloud architectures, including disjointed management, isolated tools and the complex purchasing process.
Through this partnership, customers will be able to choose to deploy their Azure services with fully managed Oracle Database services within a single datacenter, including support for i servizi Oracle Exadata Database, Oracle Autonomous Database e Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC). Oracle and Microsoft have also developed a joint support model to provide rapid response and resolution for mission-critical workloads.
Additionally, Oracle and Microsoft have significantly simplified the purchasing and contracting process. Customers will be able to purchase Oracle Database@Azure through Azure Marketplace, leveraging existing Azure contracts. They will also be able to use the benefits of existing Oracle Database licenses, including Bring Your Own License and the Oracle Support Rewards program.
Oracle will operate and manage these OCI services directly within Microsoft’s datacenters globally, starting in the North America and Europe regions.
