Cortana lascia Windows: Microsoft interromperà il supporto thumbnail

Microsoft is ending support for Cortana for Windows

Cortana’s adventure on Windows PCs ends after about 8 years. Microsoft’s virtual assistant, in fact, will retire, at least as regards its app for Windows, never really used by Microsoft users. The confirmation has arrived in these hours: the American company is preparing to disconnect the push from the app, ending the official support.

Cortana will no longer be supported on Windows systems

Microsoft has failed to convince users to use Cortana on Windows. For this reason, the virtual assistant prepares for quit permanently, at least as far as the Windows app is concerned. In the future, however, Cortana could be deleted from all Windows services, with a progressive reduction of the support.

In fact, it will be a real one handover with the virtual assistant that will give way to artificial intelligence, increasingly relevant for the future of Microsoft which is already integrating various features into its services, such as Bing and Microsoft 365 Copilot. The transition has begun and the first to pay the price is the Cortana app.

Cortana was launched in 2015, with the aim of renewing Windows by enriching the software platform with a voice assistant that is always ready to use. Microsoft also tried to push partners to make devices with keys dedicated to Cortana (such as notebooks with a key to quickly call up the assistant) but it wasn’t enough.
