Microsoft announced the launch of Microsoft 365 Basic by the end of January. It is an economic version of Office, which will allow users, through a monthly subscription, to use the tools of the platform.
Microsoft 365 Basic
For several years, Microsoft has stopped providing Windows PCs with integrated Office, forcing users to purchase security keys directly from the site after a 30-day free trial of the package’s features.
The cost is obviously not bearable for everyone, which is why Microsoft has thought of a much simpler and more immediate solution: Microsoft 365 Basic, a online service to which users will be able to access after subscribing to a subscription costing 2.00 euros per month ($1.99).
In addition to Office services for web and mobile such as World, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, subscribers will also be able to take advantage of 100GB of OneDrive spacetechnical service by Microsoft online or via call center and no advertising.
The package should also include additional tools such as data encryption for Outlook emails, checking for suspicious links and links, virus and malware scanning. But Gareth Oystrykdirector of product marketing for Microsoft 365, announced that later this year Microsoft 365 Basic will be enriched with new features designed for OneDrive, including Personal Vault, ransomware detection and data recovery.
However, the Basic version of Office is only designed to be used on the web and not directly on the PC desktop.
In addition to the monthly subscription, there should also be the possibility of using an annual subscription, the cost of which should be around 19.99 euros per year ($19.99). Ultimately, Microsoft will still keep its previous subscriptions unchanged, including the free web version of Office with 5 GB of cloud space on OneDrive included.
Microsoft 365 Basic is scheduled to launch on January 30, 2023.
