A whole short film shot on the streets of Tokyo using only theiPhone 15 Pro: is called Midnight and follows a taxi driver around the Japanese capital. This is live-action based on a manga by Osamu Tezuka, the “God of Manga”directed by Takashi Miike and interpreted Kento Kaku, Yukiyoshi Ozawa e Konatsu Kato. Which, framed by the latest iPhone from Cupertino, gave life to a dynamic short film 19 minutes — which you can see below in its entirety.
Midnight, the short film shot entirely with iPhone 15 Pro
The short film follows the story of “Midnight“, a night taxi driver played by Kento Kaku, committed to helping those in need on the streets of Tokyo. The taxi driver intervenes in an altercation between a young woman (Konatsu Kato) and a crime boss, played by Yukiyoshi Ozawa. In a Tokyo all bright neon lights, a mix of emotions — captured with an iPhone.
Director Takashi Miike, famous for over 100 films and TV series, praised iPhone 15 Pro, stating that the camera features exceeded all expectations. He praised Action mode for its ability to capture “accurately the facial expressions of subjects in a scene dynamically, reflecting their emotions and thoughts.”
Furthermore, he explained how he “was even more impressed by the possibility of adjust the focus after shooting. You can focus on what you want, when you want.”
L’iPhone 15 Pro introduced several technologies to improve shooting, especially in low light conditions (especially with ProRes Log). The ways how Action e Cinema allow for smooth, cinematic videos, while the 5x telephoto lens offers unprecedented optical zoom.
