Nintendo has just shared data on the most downloaded games in Japan and to win first place it was Monster Hunter Rise, the new portable chapter of the most popular hunting game in the rising sun. Rise therefore looks like a great success for the software house, which is currently working on its expansion, Sunbreak, which will arrive next summer.
Monster Hunter Rise is a hit in Japan
Nintendo has not provided exact numbers regarding Rise, but it is clear that Capcom’s game has fought defeated fierce opponents to reach the top spot. Just think of the recent ones remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl to get an idea of the competitors who have fought for player attention during this year, not to mention the ubiquitous Among Us.
Here she is top ten of the most downloaded games in Japan:
In the meantime, the software house has stated that it will not publish news about Sunbreak until this spring, a bizarre choice, if we consider the marketing campaigns that Capcom has always accustomed us to. Anyway, the expansion should add new monsters to the game and the degree of difficulty called Master Rank (or grade G), capable of challenging even the most experienced players.
In short, the period seems quite flourishing for the Monster Hunter franchise, even if the effects of the pandemic are quite evident in the gameplay loop of Rise, which almost completely lacks a well-structured endgame that knows how to involve users in the long run. The hope is that the expansion will fix this small imperfection of an otherwise excellent game.
