Because of COVID-19, Square Enix was forced to delay the development of Final Fantasy XVI. A spring 2022, however, will finally offer the public new and interesting details on the title. Let’s find out all the details together.
Final Fantasy XVI: delayed development and new information coming in 2022
Earlier this year, the manufacturer Naoki Yoshida promised that more information on the next chapter in the Final Fantasy series would be released later this year. However, in the long message you can read above, Yoshida stated that the team he is unable to keep that promise because of complications following the global pandemic coronavirus in progress.
Furthermore, the producer announced that the development of the title has been delayed by nearly six months.
“When we last spoke, I promised that I would have more information on Final Fantasy XVI later in 2021,” writes Yoshida. “However, I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to deliver on that promise as complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have delayed development of the game by nearly half a year.”
Later in his message, Yoshida said however that further new details on the highly anticipated title will be between the end of March and the end of June 2022.
“So this leaves us with the question: when can we expect the next round of information? Well, I am happy to announce that the current plan is to announce new details in the spring of 2022. In the meantime we will try to increase the hype until the eventual release of the game ”.
